Decide which sound matters first
Speech usually takes priority in an explanatory video. Mute music and sound effects first, then check the voice level and differences between sections.
Start the music low
Start the music very low and raise it gradually. Listen closely where speech begins to catch any words hidden by the music.
Reduce sudden changes
Music or effects that suddenly become louder at a scene change can distract viewers. Adjust each clip and listen across the cut to check the transition.
Listen in another environment
A mix that sounds good on headphones may not translate to other devices. If possible, play it through small speakers too and check that every word remains clear.
